Musashino Swing Hall, Tokyo — Music and generosity came together for a memorable evening as "Himig ng Puso: An Evening of Music for a Cause" brought audiences together in celebration of Filipino artistry and the spirit of giving. Held on April 22, 2026, the concert marked another meaningful milestone for the Philippines-Tokyo Concert Series, continuing its mission of promoting Philippine music and strengthening cultural connections through the performing arts.
The evening featured Isaac Ishmael Iglesias (tenor), a Philippine-based opera singer, and Carell Ethilca Henry (piano), a Filipino pianist based in Japan. Together, they captivated the audience with a heartfelt program featuring traditional Philippine Kundiman, beloved Filipino classics, Original Pilipino Music (OPM), and selections from Broadway. Their performances brought the richness and emotional depth of Filipino music to life, earning warm applause and appreciation from the audience.
The charity concert was made possible through a meaningful collaboration with Tokyo Bayanihan Circle, spearheaded by Bituin Shimada, whose commitment to community service and Filipino solidarity in Japan helped bring the initiative to life. The event supported Hospicio de San Jose, a charitable institution in the Philippines dedicated to caring for vulnerable individuals and communities in need.
