Kahiusa: A Philippines-Japan Cultural Concert Tickets Now On Sale

We are delighted to present the third and final concert of our 2025 season: "Kaihusa: A Philippines–Japan Cultural Concert."

This special performance brings together the artistry of Filipino soprano Cymbelene Gatdula, Japanese violinist Saeka Hashimoto, and Filipino pianist Carell Ethilca Belandres in a much-anticipated collaboration that bridges the two nations' cultures through music.

Join us on Sunday, November 2, from 11:00 to 12:30, for an inspiring concert followed by a Filipino lunch reception prepared by Chef Eric Romero, owner of Ulam Tokyo.

Cymbelene Gatdula, soprano

Cymbelene "Cymbie" Gatdula is a versatile soprano from the Philippines, known for her expressive artistry and commitment to vocal excellence. She began performing publicly at the age of 13 and pursued formal classical training at 21.

In 2011, she entered the Conservatory of Music at Santa Isabel College, where she studied under the late Prof. Josie Bailen and later under Prof. Maribel Ararao. She graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Music in Voice and was honored with the Outstanding Performance in Voice award.

Her teaching career began shortly after graduation, serving as a voice instructor at respected institutions including Yupangco Music Academy, Musikgarten, Lyric, Zion, and Santa Isabel College.

In 2018, Cymbelene furthered her studies at the Elisabeth University of Music in Hiroshima, Japan, completing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance under the mentorship of Prof. Hiroko Hayama.

Currently based in Hiroshima, she balances her roles as a preschool and voice teacher at an international school with her life as a performer, wife, and mother.

Saeka Kawamoto, violin

川本冴夏
広島県広島市出身。3歳からヴァイオリンを始める。特別奨学生としてエリザベト音楽大学演奏学科ヴァイオリン専攻に入学、卒業。2017年ドイツのベルリンで行われた音楽祭『ヤングユーロクラシック』にてエリザベト音楽大学オーケストラのコンサートミストレスを務める。
学生時代よりプロ活動を開始し数々の演奏会、ライブ、サポートをこなす。 

Hailing from Hiroshima, Japan, Saeka Kawamoto began studying the violin at the age of three. She entered the Elisabeth University of Music as a special scholarship student, majoring in violin, and graduated from the Faculty of Performance. In 2017, she served as concert mistress of the Elisabeth University of Music Orchestra at the Young Euro Classic festival in Berlin, Germany.

Since her student days, Saeka has been an active professional musician, performing in concerts, live performances, and supporting engagements across a wide range of genres.

Kate Henry, piano

Kate Henry, a pianist from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, is a classically trained performer, licensed music educator, and author of a children's piano book series. Based in Tokyo, she teaches at an international school in Japan and runs her own piano studio, organizing recitals and performing regularly as a soloist, accompanist, and lounge pianist. She is the founder of the Philippines–Tokyo Concert Series, dedicated to promoting Philippine music to international audiences. 

She recently obtained her Artist status under the Tokyo Immigration Office, proving her work and achievements in the field of the arts. Holding a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education, she continues to dedicated her expertise not only in performing but also in teaching the next generations of musicians.
